Stock-Taking or Stock Checks are the processes any successful shop goes through in order to create an audit of existing stock.
This audit can then be used for a variety of different uses. Stock Valuations for example can be carried out with the use of a stock audit. In a Stock Valuation the information from the audit can be used to calculate trends in sales and the market. This information is especially useful for making predictions on future sales, quantities of what should be ordered and any possible trends that may be occurring.
If there are any errors in sales figures then a manual Stock-Take can be an effective technique for finding the root of the problem. Perhaps an item is not scanning correctly at the till, or you have less stock of an item than what is recorded. A manual Stock-Take, done by hand will reveal the cause.
